Monkey Bread

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is to make Monkey Bread – it’s perfect because you can fix it the night before, leave it out to rise overnight, and then pop it in the oven on Christmas morning. Here’s my Aunt Cathie’s recipe that we love.

Betty Crocker’s Gingerbread Boys

Since I had already made my usual Gingerbread Men recipe earlier this season, I decided that I would branch out and try a new one for my second round of cookies this year.

Nanny’s Yorkshire Pudding

My maternal grandmother (“Nanny”) has definitely been my greatest source of inspiration, encouragement, and education in the kitchen! She is English/Canadian, so a lot of her recipes have come from that traditional heritage. One of the meals my mom remembers from growing up was the traditional Sunday Roast with potatoes, veggies, and Yorkshire Puddings.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

This recipe is inspired by my wonderful friends – it’s sort of a blend of the recipes that you all sent me! I took it to hubby’s family Christmas celebration on Sunday, and it was a HUGE hit – people just couldn’t stop talking about it and asking me for the recipe! It always feels good when you find a recipe that gets that sort of attention. So here it is!

Chicken Tortilla Soup

Dawg Balls

Okay, so there’s a story behind the name of these cookies. I got this wonderfully delicious cookie recipe from the lovely, talented, and resourceful friend Hayley because I was looking for a festive cookie to take to a tailgating party before a Georgia Bulldogs football game. (Go Dawgs!) My hubby saw me making these the morning of the party, and when he saw me rolling the chocolate balls of dough in red sprinkles, he said, “What are you making?!? Dawg balls?!?” And I said, “Yes!”

And that is how this cookie’s name came to be.

Easy Breakfast Casserole

This is a Christmas morning tradition in our household: I make the monkey bread, and mom makes the breakfast casserole. Both can be made the day before, and then popped into the oven while the family is opening presents. Mom’s strata is sooooo delicious, and not too greasy or heavy like the recipes I’ve seen that use crescent rolls. It puffs up and browns beautifully, and it heats up well the next day if you have leftovers!
